Array Formats

We offer single and multi-array slides. Single-array slides can be hybridized using a variety of hybridization techniques (coverslips, hybridization stations, Agilent Technologies hybridization cassettes, etc.). Multi-array slides are compatible with Agilent Technologies gasket slides.

All formats have ~60µm diameter circular features (spots). We estimate there are approximately 1.5x109 probes per spot. Features are orange packed (6x7K, 3x20K, 40K, 80K) or rectangular packed (6x5K, 3x15K, 30K, 60K). Orange packed features have column gaps of ~110µm (gaps are measured spot center to center) and row gaps of ~82µm. Rectangular packed features have row and column gaps of ~110µm. Scanners with 5µm resolution will work well for our array feature size and distribution. All array formats are synthesized within our "potential synthesis area" (see Figure 1). All formats are synthesized on amine functionalized glass substrates that have a notch in one corner for unambiguous orientation (see Figure 1).

One array per slide, 30,000 spots (30K format)

This slide contains a single array of 30,000 features. The array consists of a grid of 160 columns by 192 rows for a total of 30,720 spots with 720 spots reserved for internal quality control. Consequently, up to 30,000 spots are available for custom probe sequences. This format is compatible with the two-chambers Agilent Technologies hybrization gasket slide.

One array per slide, 40,000 spots (40K format)

This slide contains a single array of 40,000 features. The array consists of a grid of 160 columns by 256 rows for a total of 40,960 spots with 960 spots reserved for internal quality control. Consequently, up to 40,000 spots are available for custom probe sequences. This format is compatible with the two-chambers Agilent Technologies hybrization gasket slide.

One array per slide, 60,000 spots (60K format)

This slide contains a single array of 60,000 features. The array consists of a grid of 160 columns by 384 rows for a total of 61,440 spots with 1440 spots reserved for internal quality control; thus 60,000 spots are available for custom probe sequences. This format is compatible with the single-chamber Agilent Technologies hybrization gasket slide.

One array per slide, 80,000 spots (80K format)

This slide contains a single array of 80,000 features. The array consists of a grid of 160 columns by 512 rows for a total of 81,920 spots with 1,920 spots reserved for internal quality control; thus 80,000 spots are available for custom probe sequences. This format is compatible with the single-chamber Agilent Technologies hybrization gasket slide.

Three arrays per slide, 15,000 spots per array (3x15K format)

This slide contains 3 arrays of 15,000 features each. One array consists of a grid of 160 columns by 94 rows for a total of 15,040 spots with 40 spots reserved for internal quality control, leaving 15,000 spots available for custom probe sequences. Each array on the slide can be unique or all arrays can be identical depending upon the customer's needs. This format is compatible with the four-chamber Agilent Technologies hybrization gasket slide.

Three arrays per slide, 20,000 spots per array (3x20K format)

This slide contains 3 arrays of 20,000 features each. One array consists of a grid of 160 columns by 132 rows for a total of 21,120 spots with 1120 spots reserved for internal quality control, leaving 20,000 spots available for custom probe sequences. Each array on the slide can be unique or all arrays can be identical depending upon the customer's needs. This format is compatible with the four-chamber Agilent Technologies hybrization gasket slide.

Six arrays per slide, 5,000 spots per array (6x5K format)

This slide contains 6 arrays of 5,000 features each. One array consists of a grid of 56 columns by 94 rows for a total of 5,264 spots with 264 reserved for internal quality control. Consequently, 5,000 spots are available for custom probe sequences. Each array on the slide can be unique or all can be identical upon customer request. This format is compatible with the eight-chamber Agilent Technologies hybrization gasket slide.

Six arrays per slide, 7,000 spots per array (6x7K format)

This slide contains 6 arrays of 7,000 features each. One array consists of a grid of 56 columns by 94 rows for a total of 7,392 spots with 392 reserved for internal quality control. Consequently, 5,000 spots are available for custom probe sequences. Each array on the slide can be unique or all can be identical upon customer request. This format is compatible with the eight-chamber Agilent Technologies hybrization gasket slide.

Custom formats

We can also synthesize custom patterns and even draw images as long as they fit into our synthesis area. Potential applications are DNAgraphy (DNA image printing), detection array for microfluidic devices (the slide coupled with a PDMS device bearing channels), etc. We also have the possibility to synthesize microarray probes inside glass capillary tubes.
